MICHAEL CRAWFORD HICK

Meet Michael Crawford Hick, a sports photographer who focuses his efforts on capturing adaptive and para sport. Inspired by his own personal journey with disability, Michael started his company, The Disability Sports Network, to promote adaptive sport from the grassroots to Paralympic levels. Over the past 3 years, he has been able to work at some of the world’s most prestigious sporting events, including most recently, the Paris 2024 Games.

PROUD ACHIEVEMENTS

“Going to the Paralympics in Paris 2024 with a full press pass after only 18 months after I started my company. It was always a dream.”

GROWTH OF PARA SPORT

“Show it can be done, maybe a single photograph or a collection at an exhibition that some will say I can do that, or help out with a donation and ongoing support for that sport. I want regular exhibitions of disabled sports from all corners of the world showing what can be done.”

WHO CHAMPIONED MICHAEL’S PASSION…

“I started out photographing sailing and hearing all the stories of round the world trips, races. It was not one person but a collective of events around sports, that gave me passion for the photography I now do today.”

THE FUTURE OF PARA SPORT

“Making sure every disabled person has access to a sport or two, so they can socialise, get fit, and enjoy life more than they do now.”

LEAVING A LEGACY

“Any one who is disabled can do sports in some format. There are so many opportunities that people don’t know about. I want to show and promote it, to allow people to excel at their respective sports and at any level.
I want to tell the world through photography that disabled people can do sports and amazing things.”
