JUSTINE NAKABUGA
“I want every woman in the world to believe that you can change the world.”
Meet Justine Nakabuga, a Ugandan journalist working for Proline Soccer Academy, a volunteer ambassador for the Ball to All organisation, and a proud mother of one son. She is passionate about bringing sport to children and seeing the positive change it creates in her community.
“I started my journalist career with Sanyu Fm 88.2 in Uganda where I was doing a Motorsport show. Then headed to Tagy Tv where I was doing the sports round up show. I then joined Rora media and Proline Soccer Academy where I am right now.”
“When the Cameroon football team came to Uganda, I trained with Andre Onana. That was a sporting moment that deeply influenced by career and life.”
Ball to All
“The mission of the Ball to All organisation, is to see every child with a ball of their own. I find children in slums playing football with plastic bottles. As a volunteer of Ball to all, I get to gift them with a real soccer ball. I love working with kids and I love to see the positive change in the Ugandan community.”
Justine’s Career
“As a journalist, I have covered various sports disciplines in and outside Uganda. I love making new friends through sport—I call it social capital. My dream is to work internationally in women’s sports.
Female athletes are currently represented well in sports media, however, we need more coverage of women’s sport in Africa. There are only a few broadcasters that cover women’s games.”
“My advice for young women aspiring to work in the sports industry is to keep trusting in your journey and work hard.”
