JESSICA STOMMEL

“For me, the most exciting opportunity is proving that investing in women’s football is a smart and sustainable business decision.”

“My journey in sport began at birth, with my first horse competition at 18 months old.

At seven I became the youngest even national winner with Ponies in Aachen. Due to a heavy accident, I had to stop my professional riding career at age 25.”

“One moment that deeply influenced my perception of sports was attending the semi-final at the Volksparkstadion between HSV women and Werder Bremen women. Seeing over 57,000 fans—families, children, men and women—celebrate women’s football at that scale (a new record within German women's football club history) was incredibly powerful. It wasn’t just a match; it was a cultural shift. That moment showed me how sport can unite, inspire, and redefine what’s possible—not only for athletes on the pitch but for women across the industry.

It reinforced my belief that with the right investment and visibility, women's sports can thrive equally—and that I want to be part of driving that change.”

HOW BRANDS CAN SUPPORT WOMEN IN SPORTS

“Brands and sponsors can better support women in sports by moving beyond symbolic gestures and committing to long-term, meaningful investment. This means equal visibility in campaigns, dedicated budgets for women's teams and events, and storytelling that highlights female athletes as role models—not exceptions. It also involves amplifying women not just on the field, but in leadership, media, and decision-making roles. When brands treat women’s sports as a core part of their strategy—not a side project—they help shift perceptions, drive growth, and create a more equitable future for the entire industry.

I believe that commercial success and the integrity of sport are not mutually exclusive—they can and should go hand in hand. The key is to align partnerships and strategies with the core values of the sport: fairness, inclusivity, and respect. In my work, I focus on creating authentic value for both brands and the game itself—by building long-term relationships that support the growth of the sport, not just short-term returns.

When we prioritise purpose-driven storytelling and responsible marketing, we can generate revenue while protecting what makes sport truly powerful: its ability to inspire, unite, and lead by example.”

COMMERCIAL OPPORTUNITIES IN WOMEN’S SPORT

“I’m especially excited about the growing commercial potential of women’s football as a standalone product. We're entering an era where women's competitions are no longer just part of a wider portfolio, but are building their own ecosystems—with tailored media rights deals, dedicated sponsorship strategies, and unique fan cultures. There’s untapped potential in creating cross-industry partnerships that connect sports with fashion, entertainment, and social impact—especially for brands that authentically support gender equality. For me, the most exciting opportunity is proving that investing in women’s football is not only the right thing to do—it’s a smart and sustainable business decision.”

JESSICA’S GOAL IN SPORT

“The story I want to tell through my journey in the sports industry is one of transformation, inclusion, and elevation—especially for women. I am passionate about shaping a future where women's football is valued equally, both in visibility and investment, and where young girls see limitless potential in the sport. My goal is to contribute to a more equitable sports ecosystem by using my voice, experience, and position to empower others, dismantle barriers, and leave behind a legacy where equality is not just a goal—but a standard.”

“My advice to young women aspiring to work in the sports industry is to believe deeply in their worth and never underestimate the value of their unique perspective. Don’t wait for permission to speak up—take space, ask questions, challenge norms, and build strong networks with those who lift you up. Most importantly, stay true to your passion and purpose—because authenticity, resilience, and integrity will always set you apart in an industry that needs more diverse voices and courageous leadership.”
