ISABELLE CHAUZY
“Long-term change in sport will come from creating space for many different people, perspectives and voices.”
Meet Isabelle Chauzy, Sport Partnerships Specialist at UNICEF UK, leading the creation of partnerships between UK headquartered sport properties and the world’s leading children’s organisation. She is proud to be leveraging the power of sport to create a better world for every child.
“Before my role at Bloomsbury Football, I never dreamed I would end up working in sport. I feel so grateful that I got the opportunity to build the brand, lead creative storytelling campaigns and see the power football has on the lives of so many young Londoners.”
“I find working in the world of sport to be such a welcoming and encouraging space - people want to make things happen, and connect with each other.
Mollie and Rosie Kmita, the founders of the Powerhouse Project, are always inspirations to me - they are such lovely, genuine people who are making a real change on the lives of women in the industry.”
AN INSPIRING SPORTING MOMENT
“I was lucky enough to attend the EURO 2022 final at Wembley. That was a huge moment - on a personal level, and for the country! Growing up, I never felt that football games were a space for me, but the energy, joy and diversity of the crowd at Wembley that day was so inspiring, and it's something I'll never forget.”
COMMERCIAL PARTNERSHIPS IN SPORT
“Purpose-led partnerships can also have commercial value - in fact, the industry is shifting to a place where fans expect their teams and clubs to unite behind a purpose. That is what I am working on at UNICEF UK.
Another exciting commercial opportunity we are seeing is women's sport going from strength to strength. We need brands to invest in women's sport, tell stories about women in sport and hire women in sport!”
WORKING IN SPORT
“I want people to know that there is space for so many different people in this industry. If you don't make it pro, you can still work in sport - there are so many roles available.
I really believe that long-term change in sport will come from creating space for many different people, perspectives and voices.
I have a few pieces of advice based on what I've learned so far, but the main one would be - don't get in your own way. Believe in the power of your voice, and show up to networking events and meetings with confidence, even if you don't feel it.”
“Don't be afraid of asking questions, listening more than speaking, and say yes to the opportunities that make you feel excited.”
